Econometrics - Master of Science
The English-language Master’s program in Econometrics is offered jointly by the UA Ruhr Universities: TU Dortmund University, Ruhr-Universität Bochum, and the University of Duisburg-Essen (Essen campus). It combines the expertise of the three participating business departments in empirical economic research and economics with the methodologically oriented training in statistics and econometrics at Dortmund. This bundling of educational and research competences enables a specialized curriculum covering a wide range of topics in econometrics and economics.
Econometrics is a branch of economics and deals with the quantitative analysis of economic relationships using mathematical-statistical methods. These methods are used in many areas of economic research and are the basis for empirical applications in prominent disciplines such as labor and financial market economics. The application of econometric methods gains increasing significance as a key to decision support for corporations, governments, financial institutions, and other organizations.
