Leibniz Research Centre for Working Environment and Human Factors
IfADo investigates, on the one hand, basics of physiological and psychological processes of the liver, the brain, the immune system as well as the musculoskeletal and sensory system. On the other hand, they examine connections with the working environment, such as: How can we create ergonomic and healthy working places? Which threshold values of potentially hazardous substances at workplaces are acceptable? How does aging influence cognitive functions and how can workplaces be optimized for the needs of older employees? As a result, there is multidisciplinary research being conducted with the overarching goal to provide benefit and welfare to the working individual and society.
The core topics being researched include people working in technical environments, external and internal factors of wellbeing and performance, the challenges of an aging workforce, and understanding toxic mechanisms and safe handling of chemicals in modern working environments. The research fields of IfADo are ergonomics, immunology, psychology & neurosciences, and toxicology.
